About Us
The mission of the Association of Future Female Physicians (AFFP) is to empower, educate, and support pre-medical women to advance within medicine.
AFFP will achieve this mission by promoting service projects that benefit the community, while instilling leadership and awareness, fostering valuable alliances with current female medical students and practicing female physicians, encouraging and advocating for aspiring undergraduate students, offering opportunities to gain insight about women’s issues that help aid and commit them to improving women’s health, and offering forums that provide the knowledge, insight, and perspective that will further aid women through their progression in the medical profession.
The Association of Future Female Physicians (AFFP) is the only women-based pre-medical student group in the nation and is the official pre-medical division of AMWA, the American Medical Women’s Association.

History – AMWA Pre-Medical Division
The Association of Future Females, the official pre-medical division of the American Medical Women’s Association, was formed in 2006 at the University of Utah to address the specific needs of female pre-medical students. Many female students lack the support of family, friends, fellow students, educators, church and community as they pursue a career in medicine. Furthermore, women also struggle with balancing career and home, often becoming overwhelmed by what the future may hold. As a result, AFFP was created to help women make educated decisions about their futures, have the necessary resources to help them throughout the pre-medical process, and find the support from fellow women pursuing a career in medicine.
AFFP was founded to support pre-medical women and has a network of students who have excelled in the pre-medical who are willing to share their knowledge and skills with other members. We are always striving to provide all the assistance we can to empower and support our members through this process.
