Programs

All of our programs are designed to help make your medical school application competitive, provide you with educational resources to help you not only in the application/interview process but to help you become a great female physician, and to provide you with the support you need throughout your pre-medical career.  We have a great group of women involved in AFFP and we hope you join us.

Physician shadowing: If you need help getting your physician shadowing hours, we have a list of physicians, in many fields, who have already agreed to allow our members to shadow them. Simply email and let us know what field you are interested in shadowing and we will give you a list of physicians to contact.

Community service: If you don’t know where to start or need some ideas, we have a diverse database of volunteer opportunities and if needed we will assist you in getting involved with them.

Leadership: AFFP is always looking to fill our empty leadership positions or volunteers to help with upcoming events. If you are interested in a great opportunity with AFFP please contact us.

Research: From our past events and members we have many affiliations with research opportunities. If you don’t know how to get started with research or you are looking for a unique opportunity you can contact us and we will assist you with anything you need. We will also help you apply to positions and get you in touch with some labs.

Mentoring: As part of our AMWA membership we offer a mentoring program set up with female medical students which allows you to get a firsthand look at what medical school is all about. Also, you are able to get advice and support from someone who has experience and knowledge about the application process and medical school.

Study Groups and Friendship: Because most of us are taking many of the same classes and working towards the same goal, AFFP makes it easy to build lasting friendships and at the very least form study groups. Many of our members have benefited greatly from the social network AFFP provides and not just with fellow students but with physicians, faculty members and medical students.
